One of my complaints is how the vet did not inform me of the "possible" side effects from this shot since my pet never had one. For 3 days my dog could not move and when I had to move him to go potty and put to bed, he wailed out in pain, hind legs shaking and absolutely no energy.
That same evening I called the pet emergency clinic in Evansville Indiana and the very knowledgable and concerned lady I spoke with (sorry, I didn't get her name) told me it was from the Bordetella shot due to his age (almost 10 years old) and if he develops breathing issues to bring him in immediately. Today (7 days later), he is feeling better but still has lack of energy and developed reverse sneezing several times a day. Hopefully it will go away in time.
I called the vet office the following day to inform them of what was happening with my dog and I wanted to know if this was caused by the Bordetella shot. The woman on the phone (Amy) made a sighing sound as if she was annoyed with my questions and told me the doc would call me when he got out of surgery...I'm still waiting on that call. Maybe customer service was having a bad day?? Mine was worse!
This is going to be a long review to explain my poor rating...
They are nice and friendly, helpful, kind and caring
Dr. Jim Zieren at the Carmi Vet Clinic has retired and will be sorely missed. Another vet took his place, Dr. John Griese. I took my toy poodle in for his annual DA2LPP shot on January 30, 2017 and Dr. Griese told me my dog needed a Bordetella shot since I have my dog groomed there so I said okay. Mind you...he was a happy, healthy pet other than needing his teeth cleaned.
I am very dissatisfied with the customer service of this clinic. If i could give no stars i would. I got woken up to my husband yelling at me to wake up and call the vet at 8 am this morning, when i asked him why he told me that my dog's toe was hanging off of him by the bone. So as i was putting my shoes on i called this clinic to ask them what the best way to wrap his foot for the 30 minute trip to get him there. She then told me " let me see what the vet wants to do " and put me on hold for about 2 minutes ( i understand that is not a long time but when your dog is bleeding all over your house it feels like eternity ) after the 2 minutes i was hung up on. I then called another clinic who gave me answers right away, i got my dog to them and had to perform an amputation of the toe and had to stitch up most of his paw. I would not recommend yhis clinic. If you can avoid going there, you should.
The man who runs this business is great. He has been in the business of working with animals for a very long time, and he has a lot of experience under his belt.
This new Carmi Vet Clinic lost my business because of lack of information and customer service shouldn't be as though I'm a inconvenience. Is this an isolated case? I hope so. Hopefully no one else had or will have this experience. I'm moving on!
Office Visits are $25 Now Gets Expensive with 4 cats and a dog.
